Our Process

At Kate Jeppson Photography, we strive to give the best service we can. We want to make sure that you, the client, are given every opportunity to have the session that you envision. Think of us as your custom tailor for your portraits. We want to work with you from beginning to end to help plan the perfect session so that your custom images are exactly what you want displayed in your home. For you to have a disc of images sitting in your drawer with the intention to print and frame them isn’t the type of service that represents us or our work.

When our process is finished, we want to hand over beautiful pieces of art for you to display in your home so that you don’t have to worry or stress about it again. You have enough going on in your busy life right now that we don’t want you to be stressed and overwhelmed thinking, “Okay, well now what do I do with these images?” Photography is an investment, and we want to make sure you have something to show for it! step one: the pre-session consultation

Regardless of which type of session you’re in need of, a consultation is a must. Each session receives a complimentary consultation to ensure that we have the portrait experience you desire. It’s important for us to meet so we can talk about your vision for the session. This is the perfect time to discuss location ideas, clothing & color schemes, as well as what you’d like the end result to be. It will also give us the opportunity to show you what amazing products we have to offer, and for you to see our full price list. step two: reserve the date

Once you’ve decided that you’d love to work with us, call or email us to reserve your date. Once booked, we will customize your session by phone or by email. We will send you a link to review your customized package, an online contract for you to sign, and a link to pay your non-refundable retainer to secure your date. Once the retainer is paid and your contract signed, you’re booked and ready to go! You’ll receive an email confirming the date, time and location as well as some helpful tips on how to prepare for your session!

step three: the session

The next step is the actual session! We will meet at a location of your choice and have fun documenting and creating priceless pieces of your story

During your session, we like to provide enough direction so that you feel confident and at ease. Yet, we also try to stay out of the way when we can, to try and capture all those candid in-between moments. We try to get a good combination of posed and candid shots, combining your wishes with our ideas & knowledge. We want you to have many options to choose from to display in your home.

The length of your session will depend on what type of session it is. For most sessions, we have found that an hour is usually the perfect amount of time to capture what we need while not losing the attention span of children (or spouses ). You can also check out our FAQ page if you have more questions about your session.

 

step four: the reveal & order session

Typically within 2 weeks from your session date, we will meet together again to view & order your beautiful images. This is where you will be able to invest in professional portraits and artwork to display in your home for generations.

Since this is the one-time you will have to view all your images and place an order, it is important that all family members that need to help in the decision making, are present.  

First, you will get to see a slideshow of your images. After which you will be able to narrow down your favorite images. From there we will plan on what the best way to display your images will be; wall art, an album, gift prints or a portfolio box are our most popular products. We can even help you figure out the best way to arrange them on your wall and what groupings would look best. There is no need to feel stressed or overwhelmed. We are here to help you every step of the way!

step five: product pick-up

We know you'll be so anxious to see your finished product. The products we offer are truly gorgeous and exquisite. Therefore, once your images are ordered and paid for, we will get your order placed. Within 3 weeks* from your order being placed, your products will be available for pick up or delivery.

To us (and hopefully to you too) this feels like Christmas! We love seeing these sessions become beautiful, tangible, pieces of art to display!
